"Some few days back, I was in my room and I discovered that i have a whole lot of wears, shoes, property etc that i do not use any longer because God has been gracious to me indeed, making it possible for me to have a change of wardrobe and all. Thus, i find some of these items unuseful to me again me. I can't really say they are disposables because they can be re-used by some people out there who are in need. Hence, an idea struck my mind: "how about having a repository for such items? Get in contact with people of a willing heart to give such and thereafter take it to the less priviledged ones ". I thought of this for a while but my fear is how achievable is this. Will people be reasonable enough to let go some of their stuffs. I don't really know, but i've been thinking about it and i pray to God for direction.
Pls, I'll greatly appreciate your suggestions, comments, advise and not forgetting your prayers.
Thanks.

Hi, I have been following your coments on Nairaland and I must say that I am very impressed.
Concerning the clothes, shoes e.t.c that you dont seem to need anymore, I think I have an idea that might help.
Recently in my Church, workers' in the Childrens' Department were faced with a similar challenge and we decided to organise a 'jumbo sales'.
Initially, I was wondering how jumbo sales was going to look like especially as a couple of us in the department have not witnessed a jumbo sales before.
We started by raising a committee made up of teenagers and just one of the teachers in the Teens church. The committee met occassionally and came out with a plan for the jumbo sales.
You wont believe it took us about 6 months before we could actually have the sales. Of course, this was due to the peculiarities in my church.
When we finally fixed a date for the sales, one thing was clear. It is not a profit making venture and we also have to reduce our expenditures to the barest minimum.
Also, we had to be sure of location. There was simply no point in having items that no one will be available to buy. We decided to use the teens church and the areas around it.
We thought of having the sales on a Saturday but we realised that it might not work especially as not all members of my church live close to the church.
Eventually, we decided a Sunday was our best bet. The next thing we did was make flyers. We made photocopies of this just to cut cost instead of coloured print-out. This was distributed in the church and other churches close to ours since it was going to hold on a sunday.
We encouraged members of the church to bring clothes, shoes, bags, kitchen utensils, electronics e.t.c that they no longer use not necessarily because they are bad but the are just probably tired of them.
The response was unbelievable.... We gave deadline of a month but by two weeks we knew we had more than enough to sell.
We didnt bother to rent canopies since we wanted to cut cost.
About two weeks to the d-day, most of the clothes were given to a 'washman' (note washman not drycleaner)so that the could be presentable.
We got hangers and twine that will be used in displaying the clothes.
The committee came very early on the d.day to put things in place. Each person was assigned to different 'duty posts'. Someone was in charge of shoes, another in charge of bags, someone else was in charge of baby wears, female wears, male wears, kithchen utensils e.t.c. Prices were fixed for each item. Apart from electronics that was sold for btw 200 and 300 naira. All the other items were sold from 10 naira to 100 naira.
Please note that the items could have been given out free of charge to people, but we realised that often times we dont appreciate these kind of things except we pay for them.
I know I have written soooooo much. Please bear with me if I have taken so much space.
BR,
Gbemisola.
I don't know how to thank you enough for your suggested solutions! God bless you indeed.
Amen
Tosin
