Primary Assignment in Lokoja and Community Development Project

At last, the posting exercise commenced on the last day of the camp, and just like a child awaiting her promotional exam result, we all queued up waiting for the roll to be called। Sooner than expected my name was called and I was posted, and thank goodness it wasn’t to Ogori-man-go-go! I was posted to the Deeper Christian Life Ministry, State Headquarter Church, Lokoja।

The last day on camp was quite memorable, it was a free day for all, a day we were set at liberty to go and march no more’। We left for our different destination and said goodbye to commands like ‘Atteen Shann’, ‘Remove Hair Dresses!’, ‘On Receive the Word of Command- DISMISS!’ ‘Color Patte Shann!’ ‘Ground Yansh’, et cetera it was a freedom indeed. The journey from Kabba to Lokoja lasted for about 56 minutes; it was a pleasant ride in a cool atmosphere. As we approach Lokoja, it was obvious that we were in a different terrain, far from where we were coming from, it seems we were in a Northern environment, the climatic condition was arid, and the sun scotching. The ambient temperature was oppressive, sometimes.

It is said that "too much of anything is not good for you": This maxim holds true for Lokoja, a town that was done-in by warmth – too much of it। Lokoja is the capital of Kogi state and the weather there is quite torrid and could be very unpleasant during summer.

Alas, we concluded the NYSC on the 31st of January, 2007 to the Glory of God Almighty and everyone had to say a good farwell to one another! It's such a small world where we meet to part and part to meet.
