Why Invest in the YOUTH?

There are different reasons why people do what they do and for whatever reasons, the end result is consequential and paramount. At the GKC Foundation, we invest on every youth we come across, and our reasons to invest in young people are these:

1. The fact remains thate there are 1.5 billion young people in developing countries who are between the ages of 10 and 24 and they deserve their fair share. Young people constitute nearly one third of the total population of developing countries and are a dynamic force for change. Our investments is targeted to their well-being! Their interests, their rights as human.

Investing in their education and health will pay off-in terms of improved productivity, reduced health costs and enhanced social capital. On the other hand, failure to do this, would result in global crimes, assaults, poverty for the generation next. This is the first reason we must invest in young people: Because young people account for such a large share of the population in our Country-Nigeria and deserve a large share of resources to guarantee social and economic progress.

2. We must invest more in young people is because five of the MDGs cover areas in which young people are directly involved and the goals will not be achieved unless we focus on youth. I am talking about the goals to:

1. Eradicate poverty;

2. Achieve universal primary education;

3. Promote gender equality and empower women;

4. Improve maternal health;

5. Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and TB; and

6. Develop a global partnership for development.

Join us today and let's make a change in the world!

Cheers and All the best!
